Another Repost From Elsewhere.

Some time ago I was trying to figure out a modern “Rights of Humanity” type of document, simple statements that could be understood by nearly anyone and irrefutable in nature. Almost a modern Liber OZ.

This is what I came up with:

Humanity has the right to live in a lawful and stable society, afforded the protections that allow fair employment, access to leisure, life in the home, and death with dignity and conscience.

Humanity has the right to eat and drink as it chooses, to dwell in the manner chosen and to move freely as they choose.

Humanity has the right to express ideas and think freely.

Humanity has the right to love as they decide appropriate, if both parties consent freely.

Humanity has the right to resist those that would abrogate these rights in whatever manner required to secure them.

I expressly did not specify that there would not repercussions for engaging in behaviors or speech that was unpopular, as the crux of freedom is whether or not to exercise it with responsibility.
